What is Sublimation Printing?

The basic dye sublimation process uses special heat-sensitive dyes to print graphics and text onto special transfer paper. The paper is then placed on a "sublimatable" item and both are placed into a heat press. When the heating cycle is completed, The paper will only contain the carrier which carried The dye to The printed item. The Dye will have actually transferred underneath the coated surface. Run your finger across the surface of a sublimated plate, mug, shirt or any coated product and you will feel nothing. The reason for this is that sublimation is always done on a polyester, polymer, or polymer-coated item. At high temperatures, the solid dye converts into a gas without ever becoming a liquid. The same high temperature opens the pores of the polymer and allows the gas to enter. When the temperature drops, the pores close and the gas reverts to a solid state. It has now become a part of the polymer. The dye impregnates colour into the material, this colour change is permanent. Sublimation refers to changes from the solid, to the gaseous state without becoming liquid. A polymer consists of large molecules made up of a linked series of repeated simple molecules.

Would you print just one single item for me?

Yes! However, please remember that for me to buy just one item from the suppliers of Sublimation Blanks, the cost of postage has to be added to the price. Popular items such as Mug's, Mouse Mats, Fridge Magnets & Badges are cheaper as I carry plenty in stock.

Can I put a personalised mug in a dishwasher?

Yes and No! A dishwasher won't damage the mug however the intense heat that is generated by a dishwasher can cause the printed design to fade over a period of time. I recommend NOT using a dishwasher and to wash the mug in warm water instead.
